Labor urges the Coalition to put the brakes on ‘Tollmania’

Clinton Maynard

Clinton Maynard is joined by John Graham, Shadow Minister for Roads, regarding NSW Labor’s urging of the Government to put the brakes on its ‘tollmania’ agenda in 2021 as Sydney faces another toll hike.

From today, tolls will increase across Greater Sydney toll roads, including by as much as 4 per cent on WestConnex which is an increase well above the consumer price index.

Mr Graham warns drivers will be hundreds of dollars worse off in 2021 because of the toll hike.

“We saw toll after toll in 2020 and it looks like 2021 will be just the same. Wages are going down but tolls just keep going up. It’s not fair,” he says.

“While people are counting down to the New Year they’ll also be counting down to toll increases on at least nine roads. This is a burden that will disproportionately impact families in West and South West Sydney at a time when they can least afford it.

“I am calling on the Government to make reversing ‘tollmania’ one of its New Year’s resolutions.“
