La Niña poised to hit in the middle of summer for second time in 75 years

Dean & Sofie

La Niña, the cold and wet counterpart to El Niño, typically develops during the winter months before diminishing in the later part of the year. However, for only the second time in 75 years, it is poised to hit in the middle of summer.

Ken Kato from the Early Warning Network told Dean Miller on 4BC Summer Breakfast, “In the shorter term, we’re entering a generally more unstable weather pattern.”

“You’ll probably see bouts of showers and thunderstorm activity firing up in some portions of our region over the coming days and some parts of next week as well,” Ken Kato continued.
