Investigations into abandoned aged care residents

More than 70 aged care residents, many with dementia, are now in emergency accommodation after a contract dispute escalated to the point that they were suddenly forced out of their Nerang nursing home.

HelpStreet, the operator of the nursing home wing at the Earle Haven Retirement Village, claims the owner of the home, People Care, owes it money leaving it unable to pay staff.

The Palaszczuk Government is demanding the federal government investigate and Federal Aged Care Minister Senator Richard Colbeck tells Mark he’s determined to get to the bottom of what happened.
