Australians are consuming almost 19-million eggs each day.

New data released for World Egg Day is highlighting the popularity of the poultry product as the industry stares down future challenges, including changes to guidelines for phasing out caged eggs.

Rural Reporter Amie Meehan caught up with Australian Eggs managing director Rowan McMonnies, to find out more about the appeal of eggs and how producers are feeling about the proposed changes.
