A Queensland mosquito trial has made a breakthrough that could potentially save millions of lives around the world.

The CSIRO team released millions of sterile mosquitoes around Innisfail that bred out 80% of the disease carrying insects.

Lead researcher Dr Paul De Barro tells Ben it’s a breakthrough in tackling a range of diseases like yellow and dengue fever.
