GoMA celebrates Margaret Olley’s Brisbane links

The life and work of Australian painter Margaret Olley is being celebrated with a major exhibition, titled A Generous Life, at Brisbane’s Gallery of Modern Art.

More than one of the country’s greatest still-life painters though Olley was a mentor, a muse, a passionate collector and a donor who gifted works by the likes of Cézanne, Degas and Picasso to Australian galleries.

The curator of Australian art at GoMA Michael Hawker explains to Mark that Margaret Olley’s artistic roots can be traced back to her time in Brisbane.
