Gilmour Space Technologies’ attempt to become the first to launch an Australian-made rocket into orbit from Australian soil.

However, this has been delayed until tomorrow morning.

CEO of Gilmour Space Technologies, Adam Gilmour, told Sofie Formica on 4BC Afternoons, “We had an electrical problem with a trolley system that connects power to the rocket when it isn’t in, when it is in standalone mode, and we use that to test all the electrical systems before we fill it with rocket fuel, and then put it in standalone mode where it’s on its own battery systems. And so this thing failed.”

“It was working the day before, and it’s been working for ages. And as it does, [it] fails right before launch. But we identified it and within about six hours we’d fixed it. And so we’re kind of back on schedule again.”

“But because we’ve got launch windows that are only in the day, we’ve missed the ability to launch this afternoon. So we have to go now for tomorrow morning’s launch window,” Mr Gilmour continued.
