Today, Brisbane mourns the loss of Queensland media legend Hugh Cornish.

Mr Cornish began his TV career in 1959 delivering the first Channel 9 television broadcast from Mt Coot-tha.

Brisbane Media stalwart Val Knox told Gary Hardgrave on 4BC Drive, “He was a great mentor to anybody who wanted some help.”

“He had a great affinity for people in trouble,” Mrs Knox continued.
