Two days out from the Wentworth by-election, Malcolm Turnbull is still refusing to endorse his successor, Dave Sharma.

The seat is in the balance following Mr Turnbull’s resignation from parliament with a protest vote expected against the government.

Losing the seat would cost the Coalition its majority, causing significant issues.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has reportedly asked Mr Turnbull for a public endorsement of the Liberal candidate.

News Corp reports he will only do so if he can include a line that says Peter Dutton knifed him.

Ray Hadley asks Mr Dutton for a response.

“Obviously, they’re all matters for Malcolm. I think it’s clear Malcolm supports Dave Sharma.”

“It’d be nice if he wrote it down on a piece of paper somewhere or put it on one of his social media platforms,” says Ray.

“Well, he’s expressed support for Dave Sharma before,” Mr Dutton says.

Mr Dutton also refused to weigh in on the National Party’s leadership fight, with reports Barnaby Joyce could replace Michael McCormack.

“I was critical of Nationals who comment on Liberal Party leadership matters. It’s an issue for the party.

“I’ve got a good friendship with both Barnaby and Michael and the leadership of the National Party is an issue for the National Party.”
