Australians travelling abroad and domestically this festive season will need to pack their patience, with the travel industry warning of continued delays and last minute airline cancellations.

With border closures in the rear mirror, the Christmas and New Year period is gearing up to be busy at airports across the country.

CEO of Luxury Travel, Sandra Skelton doesn’t see the situation improving any time soon.

“At the moment from my experience from the last few months, it really doesn’t matter which airline you are looking at, there always seems to be schedule changes and things happening,” she said on Brisbane Live.

“If you can get on a direct, then do it, because you have less chance of something going wrong.

“Unfortunately it is the way of the world these days.”

She said last minute changes and cancellations were par for the course.

“In the travel industry we are dealing with it every single day,” she said.
