One year on since the floods ravaged south-east Queensland, Boondall resident Kelly Tetevano is still living in a storage room with her partner and kids.

The estimated damages bill from the flood disaster was $7.7 billion.

For many, it’s a nightmare that goes on.

When Kelly’s home flooded again last year, it was the third time.

But despite being eligible for the $741 Resilient Homes Fund, Kelly says the government won’t buy back her home.

“We had at least 1.2 metres through the bottom level of our property but completely loss of contents, water internally, we have had mould, we need ceiling replaced, air-cons we lost all bedding upstairs,” she told Neil Breen.

Despite meeting all the criteria to register for the government to buy their property, she says they have been denied again on appeal.

She said it was a heartbreaking situation, and she had a message for the government who vowed to not leave any Queenslander behind.
