Maryborough Correctional Centre remains in lockdown after violent chaos erupted around 4pm, Monday.

Multiple prison officers were attacked by inmates after they reportedly took advantage of stretched resources, according to Together Union representative Kevin O’Sullivan.

A number of officers were injured, three were taken to hospital and treated for injuries after the fight broke out.

One officer remained in hospital overnight for treatment and monitoring.

No prisoners were injured and the incident is currently under investigation.

A Queensland Corrective Services spokeswoman has said all inmates are accounted for.

The injured officers have been provided with counselling and support after being attacked.
