A North Lakes resident and neighbour has captured the feeling in the community as Queensland mourns the loss of 41-year-old Emma Lovell.

Former police officer and neighbour Travis Zealey spoke to Greg Cary on 4BC Afternoons, saying her death on Monday night, has seen the community band together.

“It’s a tragedy, and it’s a tight knit community here at North Lakes, and it has certainly brought the community closer together,” he said.

“Unfortunately it’s tragedies like this that happen that have to bring a community closer together.”

While he welcomed the Premier’s announcement of sweeping changes to youth justice, he said he felt like the community still wanted to hear breach of bail becoming an offence for juveniles.

A vigil is planned for Lake Eden on Friday night at 7pm.

“We will stick together.”
