Noosa fisherman Peter Hassett has reeled in a huge 2.5 metre bull shark in a popular swimming spot.

He was out fishing with a mate on a tinnie in the Noosa River about 150m from the rock wall and sandbag area near Noosa Sound when he caught it.

He brought it in to shallow flats before releasing it.

Mr Hassett told Neil Breen it was the biggest he’s ever reeled in.

“Just unbelievable,” he said.

He wanted to bring awareness for anyone who swims there, particularly at night.
