Need bread, milk? New drone ‘store to door’ service could be the answer

sofie formica

Drones will soon be delivering small grocery packages on the Gold Coast in a “store to door” service with Coles.

The trial, which begins next week, will be limited to those suburbs around Coles in Ormeau.

General manager of Wing Australia, Simon Rossi, said while they don’t see drone deliveries replacing that big weekly shop, it could be a helpful tool for locals.

“We do see drone deliveries focussing on the smaller parcels, we typically carry about 1 kilogram per delivery,” he told Sofie Formica.

He said drone delivery is great for a smaller shop, like bread or milk!
