A man has been freed from a storm drain on the Gold Coast.

The 79-year-old was out riding in Ormeau early this morning when the mishap occurred.

The man missed a bridge before falling down a storm water drain, where he remained for around four hours..

He was very cold, but still conscious when he was freed by paramedics, with the help of Queensland Fire and Emergency Services.

The man was taken to hospital in a serious condition with a leg injury, and fluid on his lungs.
