Josh Bavas addresses fiery clash with Premier over Wellcamp fiasco

Sofie Formica

The Premier says Queenslanders will decide if she made the right decisions during the pandemic when they head to the polls in a few years’ time.

The state Government has come under fire over its controversial quarantine facility near Toowoomba, which has hosted just 700 people since it opened in February.

Deputy Premier Steven Miles this week announced Wellcamp will be mothballed from next week, despite its $223 million price tag.

It led to a fiery clash between Annastacia Palaszczuk and Nine News journalist Josh Bavas today as he pushed for answers on the facility at a press conference.

“This was the first time the Premier was fronting the media since the revelation of exactly how much Wellcamp cost,” Bavas later told Sofie Formica.

“We did have a raft of questions and the Premier mentioned that it’s Strive To Be Kind Day and asked for any other questions.

“There’s still a long list of questions that we’ve got, including what’s going to happen to the facility.”
