‘It’s not good enough’: Senator calls on federal pressure for New Chum

The residents of Ipswich are still yet to be heard by Queensland Health regarding the impacts of the New Chum waste site.

For years, the residents of Ipswich have been dealing with the health implications from the New Chum waste site’s odour, despite the Chief Health Officer announcing a public health inquiry is not necessary.

Senator Paul Scarr told Peter Gleeson on Drive, “…What I see is the impact this is having on the residents of Ipswich…I spent Monday morning with two families and what they’re going through, in terms of the health impacts on them, is simply unacceptable…”

“…After I heard Dr. Gerrard say last week that he wasn’t inclined to have a public health inquiry, I’m going to see what pressure I can apply on from a federal level because we need to see action…” Senator Scarr continued.
