A bridal and formal wear shop in Ipswich has been left devastated by the recent flood emergency.

Ipswich Bridal and Formal, owned by Michelle Smailes, has been running for 10 years.

“She realised on Sunday it was going to go from six inches of water to six feet of water,” 4BC reporter Steve Barker told Sofie Formica.

Ms Smailes says they have salvaged a few dresses, but not as many as she would have liked.

Outside the business, there’s bags of ruined dresses, shoes and more.

“It’s a special job and it’s a lot of coaching women to feel better about themselves for their big day.

“It’s a very heartfelt position.”

Ms Smailes became emotional when she told Sofie about how the community lent a hand on Sunday, when the situation went from bad to worse.

She’ll be setting up a new pop up shop elsewhere.
