One of Sydney’s most iconic RSL clubs is under fire over the appalling treatment of a young employee who was sexually harassed by her supervisor.

The 19-year-old Castle Hill RSL staff member contacted Ray Hadley for help after fearing for her safety at work.

Her supervisor had made several unwelcome comments and advances during shifts, all of which had been ignored.

Then he began sending sexually explicit messages via Facebook.

That’s when the employee reported the situation to management who launched an investigation.

Castle Hill RSL ordered the man to undergo sexual harassment training but allowed him to stay on as a supervisor.

What’s worse, management couldn’t guarantee the woman wouldn’t be rostered on with the man on future shifts.

In a statement to The Ray Hadley Morning Show, the club tried to explain its appalling handling of the incident.

“While the conduct of the male supervisor was deemed to be inappropriate, the employee in question had an otherwise exemplary employment record, with no disciplinary matters arising during his 6 years at the Club.

The Club also received legal advice to the effect that termination of the supervisor’s employment could be considered harsh, unjust and unfair.

The employee has received a formal warning, has been counselled and ordered to undergo sexual harassment and social media training.”

After having her shifts reduced and being forced on to a different contract, the woman has now decided to resign.
