How ‘trackless trams’ could better service parts of Brisbane
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner is pushing for an extension of the Metro bus services to ferry workers from the “booming” airport precinct and better service the area.
He said 24,000 people work at the airport.
“We can run those trackless trams through the Airport Link tunnel, get out to the airport precinct,” he told Neil Breen.
“We can put in a number of stations at different locations to service the workers.”
Council is also looking at expansions to Carindale, Chermside and Capalaba and other areas that need to be serviced with mass transit.
He said there’s nothing else like the “trackless trams” in Australia.
