How this ordinary Aussie became a local hero

Article image for How this ordinary Aussie became a local hero

Adrian Brennan was just going about his business, buying groceries at his local Coles, when duty called.

The 58-year-old Bowral resident leapt into action when he saw a young man attempting to steal a roast chook.

He deserted his own trolley and sprinted after the culprit, reuniting the roast chicken with a grateful Coles worker.

The story came to light when Adrian’s daughter Lucy, a former Macquarie Radio reporter, tweeted about the incident.

“When Dad reached the car where the teens were waiting, he yelled out, ‘give me the bloody chicken’ and just like that they handed it over.”

Mark Levy spoke to Adrian who’s shying away from his newfound fame.

“I’m no hero, any decent guy would have done the same thing.”
