A homicide investigation is underway following the death of a man in the Lockyer Valley.

Police were called to a home at Laidley last night, following reports a man had been stabbed a number of times.

The 48-year-old man died at the scene.

Emergency crews also had to contend with a fire in the house.

Police say it had been deliberately lit.
