Hear ye! Council posts vacancy for town crier for first time in 16 years

Redland City is on the hunt for a new town crier.
Max Bissett filled the role for 16 years until his retirement yesterday, when he made his last official call.
Mayor Karen Williams told Spencer Howson Mr Bissett has left “big shoes to fill”.
“He was voted the most convivial, so clearly, we want someone that’s convivial.
“He also has won the loudest cry, so someone with a loud voice would be really good.”
Getting the dress right is just as important as the skills, Ms Williams explained.
“The gloves, everything has to be spot-on to be a winner.”
