Golden Guitar winner Aleyce Simmonds performs in studio

Article image for Golden Guitar winner Aleyce Simmonds performs in studio

When Aleyce Simmonds was 19-years-old she had the world at her feet; a hit track, a record label and a burgeoning country music career in her hands.

That’s when things spiralled downhill. She lost her deal, her management team, battled with health problems and fell away from the rank of ‘country music star’.

All throughout Aleyce never gave up her love of singing and performing though.

And now her persistence has paid off, winning her first Golden Guitar for Best Female Artist and rating in not only the country music charts, but the mainstream charts as well.

And all while managing a motel in Tamworth fulltime.

Aleyce joined Ray in studio to perform Only On My Terms and Last Word On My Lips from her album More Than Meets The Eye.

Ray was blown away by the comeback star.

“I never look down my nose at anyone… but I’ll tell you one thing; you won’t be managing motels for much longer.

“The talent you displayed with a live performance means that when people come to see you, they’ll get exactly the same thing.
