On the fourth anniversary of William Tyrrell’s disappearance, police have confirmed a coronial inquest will look at the case.

It’s the mystery which has captured the nation’s attention.

Then three-year-old William was playing in his grandmother’s garden at Kendall, on the Mid-North Coast, when he disappeared.

A wide-scale search failed to find any trace of the young boy, who was dressed in a Spider-man costume.

This year, police returned to the scene, this time looking for clues of human intervention and preparing evidence for the New South Wales Coroner.

They’ve now announced they’ll finish gathering evidence by the end of the year.

An inquest will be held next year, in the hope of finding answers for William’s family.
