Dozens of Christmas cards have been found dumped in the federal seat of Longman, north of Brisbane.

The cards were from local MP Terry Young featuring artwork from school children, wishing his constituents a happy Christmas.

“I think it’s fair enough that if you pay for a service, you should expect that service to be delivered regardless of whether the person delivering it it’s their political affiliation or not,” he told Spencer Howson.

He said for some of his constituents, they appreciate getting a holiday card.

“A lot of people, its the only card they get, there are a lot of lonely people out there, if we can brighten their day as politicians I think that’s a good thing.”

Australia Post says some weren’t addressed properly, a claim he disputes.

The company has reached out to apologise.
