It might not be on your calendar, but National Banana Day is coming up!

Last year, 400,000 tonnes of bananas were produced in Australia and 6.6 million Aussie households buy bananas every four weeks.

This year, Aussie farmers are encouraging everyone to support and celebrate local produce.

North Queensland banana grower Paul Inderbitzin, who owns Kureen Farming, says it’s been a “cracker” of a time.

“All we are asking is if everyone can pick up a banana and take a moment to appreciate the humble long yellow thing that we know as the banana and get amongst some karaoke banana that we are trying to promote along with National Banana Day.”
