Police are inspecting trucks belonging to a notorious excavation company following the tragic death of a disabled boy in Sydney’s north on Tuesday.

16-year-old high school student Leon Zhu was hit and dragged underneath a tip truck at Hornsby while crossing the road in his motorised wheelchair.

Ray Hadley has revealed the 62-year-old male driver works for Mulgoa Excavations.

There is no suggestion the driver was at fault for the boy’s death but the company’s trucks are now being inspected by police and the RMS.

Last year Ray also exposed the same company for operating an illegal recycling facility in Sydney’s western suburbs.

UPDATE:

Police and RMS inspectors have issued a direction to the company to produce all their trucks at the Wetherill Park facility.

Two trucks were found to have non-compliant speed limiters.

A further nine defects were found relating to brake lights and other issues.
