A disabled pensioner has been forced to live in unsafe conditions for four days amid the flooding crisis.

Meredith lives in a Housing Commission unit in Capalaba that has been without any working plumbing for four days now.

Widespread flooding has clogged drains in her building, meaning she is unable to shower, use the toilet or any taps.

Calls to emergency numbers aren’t being answered and the only response Meredith was able to get was from a plumber.

“All he did was take the lids of the IODs or whatever they’re called to release any pressure but when he did that, it emptied the sewer into my backyard,” she told Sofie Formica.

“Out the back of my place for four days now, I’ve got around two inches of everybody’s excrement.

“I’ve just got a backyard of concrete full of poo.”

Despite the unlivable conditions, Meredith told Sofie she has nowhere else to go.

“I’ve only got family down the Gold Coast and I obviously can’t get down there.”
