‘Crosses the line’: Why Gordon Ramsay’s latest TikTok has raised a furore

Sofie Formica

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has landed himself in another controversy over a 28-second video posted to his TikTok.

Ramsay can be seen climbing over the fence of a pen containing a number of lambs, asking “Which one’s going in the oven first”.

“The lamb sauce was still not found in the making of this video,” he jokingly captioned the video.

The video, which attracted more than 9 million views, left a number of viewers uncomfortable or furious.

“Ok I am not a vegan or vegetarian but that crosses the line,” one user wrote.

Sofie Formica suggested the negative reaction suggests people have become “disconnected from what we eat”.

“So many people just think it comes wrapped in plastic, from the shelf of a supermarket,” she said.
