Commuter pain: Major disruption on the way for rail network

4BC News

Commuters across south-east Queensland are being warned of major disruptions in the rail network at Easter time.

Tracks will be completely shut down to accommodate construction work for the Cross River Rail project.

Buses will replace trains for nearly a fortnight.

All lines into the city would be impacted from Good Friday (15 April) to Easter Monday (18 April).

Disruptions will be felt on the Beenleigh and Gold Coast lines until Sunday 24 April.

Commuters are being urged to plan ahead.

“Customers on the Beenleigh and Gold Coast lines in particular should make sure they plan their travel in advance as disruptions on these lines will extend beyond the Easter weekend to the start of the new school term and during the work week,”  head of TransLink, Sally Stannard, said.
