More than 27,000 residents were left without power yesterday after a fast-moving, destructive storm swept through Logan yesterday.

Around 1600 remain without power this morning.

There were reports a tornado ripped the roof off a home, while trees were uprooted, blocking train lines.

Trees and powerlines are down across Logan.

The Bureau of Meteorology also recorded around 100,000 lightening strikes yesterday afternoon.

The BoM says it was a quick, but severe storm.

More unsettled weather is expected today.

Nine Today Show reporter Mia Glover crossed to Neil Breen from Logan, said there were numerous traffic lights out.

“There’s a massive gum tree that’s snapped, thankfully it missed two homes.”
