An unused parcel of land behind a residential area of the Minnippi Estate in Cannon Hill will be transformed into a golf course, in what locals say is a win for the community.

It will be the first public golf course to be opened in Brisbane in 70 years.

The new Minnippi Golf Course is expected to open later this year.

Local resident Damian says people are “very excited”.

“I hear they are going to have food and bar facilities they are really trying to bring it to a community-style feel,” he told Scott Emerson.

He’s thinking he’ll take up golfing again!
