The shocking shoot-out and subsequent deaths of a Queensland man and two young police officers in the Darling Downs on Monday has devastated communities across the country.

In Queensland, locals are rallying together to honour Constable Matthew Arnold, Constable Rachel McCrow and Alan Dare, who all lost their lives on the Wieambilla property.

Last night the Story and Victoria bridges were lit up in blue.

Brisbane City Councillor Angela Owen also organised a candlelight vigil with the help of the local Salvation Army church in Calamvale.

“We got together yesterday morning and we wanted to do something to show the local police how much the community supports them but also to honour the service and sacrifice of Constable Matthew Arnold and Constable Rachel McCrow, and to also recognise Mr Alan Dare.

“There was a lot of connection, a lot of support and also an extremely high amount of grief.”
