Footage has emerged of an overzealous security guard being shooed off the ground during an AFL game on the weekend.

The incident occurred during the Greater Western Sydney Giants’ win over North Melbourne on Sunday.

The guard can clearly be seen entering the field of play to break up a scuffle between two players.

The timing of the incident couldn’t be worse for the AFL, after a spate of similar incidents.

Security guards have removed fans for calling umpires a “bald-headed flog” and “green maggots” and told other fans not to cheer so loud.

Then, security personnel were photographed patrolling Marvel Stadium in blue vests with the words ‘Behavioural Awareness Officer’.

Despite all this, AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan claims there has been no ‘crackdown’ on fan behaviour.
