Bickering pollies prompts call for ‘leadership and hope’ in flood rebuild

The Queensland government has launched a scathing attack on the Commonwealth for refusing to co-fund a $741 million flood assistance package.
It was designed to help home owners hit by the February disaster either retrofit or raise their home, as well as the option for the government to voluntary buy it back.
Acting Premier Cameron Dick says it’s not good enough to turn away from investing to make communities more flood safe and more protected.
“Scott Morrison said to Queensland, you are on your own.”
But Prime Minister Scott Morrison says the resilience package is a state responsibility.
But 4BC Drive fill in host Peter Fegan says flood victims are once again being used as political pawns among bickering politicians.
“What flood victims really need right now is leadership and hope.
“Instead they are being delivered a dose of BS.”
