STRIKERS WIN
Adelaide Strikers have recorded their maiden victory of BBL|07, comprehensively beating Sydney Thunder by 53 runs at Adelaide Oval tonight.
In front of a bumper 36,278 pre-Christmas crowd, Peter Siddle stole the show, finishing with figures of 2-4 off his three overs.
Kurtis Patterson (48) was a shining light for Sydney Thunder, falling just short of what would have been his maiden T20 half-century. After his blistering 77 off 46 balls on Tuesday night, Shane Watson (12) fell early and from there, the Thunder rarely looked like winning.
The Thunder will have a chance to make amends when they face Brisbane Heat away next Wednesday, while the Strikers head to the SCG on the following day for a date with the Sixers.

Adelaide Strikers begin their season tonight, facing off against Sydney Thunder at Adelaide Oval.
The Strikers have undergone significant change this season, bringing in Colin Ingram (South Africa) and Rashid Khan (Afghanistan) as two fresh international signings. They’re also boosted by the inclusion of well-known Aussie fast bowler Peter Siddle.
Jon Holland, Brad Hodge, Kieron Pollard, Kane Richardson and Tim Ludeman all depart for the Renegades while Ben Dunk – who scored more runs last season than any other player during BBL|06 – switched to the Stars over the winter break and looms as a significant loss.
Adelaide will be hoping that a raft of new players gel quickly and get off to the perfect start in front of what should be a healthy home crowd.
As for the Thunder, they’ll be looking to keep positive momentum going after a last-gasp win against crosstown rivals Sydney Sixers on Tuesday night.
