‘Reckless’: Minister hits back at councillor’s Coomera Connector costings
Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey has accused a Gold Coast councillor of recklessly “running out numbers” on the next stage of the Coomera Connector Plan.
Gold Coast City councillor Mark Hammel yesterday took aim at the Minister, demanding more details about the next stage of the project, suggesting the cost could blow out in the billions.
Minister Bailey hit back today in a fiery retort, saying it’s only in the planning stage and the costings were not yet known.
He said Cr Hammel was “throwing out wild numbers”.
“For this first-time councillor to go out there running out numbers that are based on nothing more than his own imagination, is just reckless and irresponsible, and it was bad behaviour,” he told Neil Breen.
“And it should be called out and that’s what I was doing.”
