Aussies get creative amid widespread lettuce shortage
Australian consumers are taking matters into their own hands as some staple vegetable prices continue to soar.
Widespread shortages saw heads of iceberg lettuce climb to $12 this month.
There’s been a 209 per cent increase in the sale of lettuce seeds on eBay over the past month.
The company’s Sophie Onikul says lettuce’s common substitute, isn’t as popular.
“People clearly aren’t cabbage fans, as eBay data shows cabbage related items have dropped 24 per cent in the last month!”
