Activity slowly flowing back into Brisbane’s CBD

Scott Emerson

Brisbane’s CBD was emptier than ever over January, according to fresh data from the Property Council in Queensland.

Since November last year, office occupancy has dropped from 63 per cent to just 13 per cent of pre-pandemic levels.

The Property Council Queensland’s executive director, Jen Williams, said in January, many weren’t back in the office.

She said since the work from directive was lifted, there has been a huge amount of activity flow back into the CBD.

“There’s no denying January was a really, really tough time for our city centre.”

But she said with the Olympics only 10 years away, “people have their eyes on Brisbane, Queensland.”
