‘Absolute disaster’: Neil Breen vents frustration over Chermside carpark chaos
Hundreds of shoppers were left stuck in a huge bottleneck for hours on Father’s day at Westfield Chermside.
There are reports people were stuck in their cars for upwards of three hours, trying to exit the shopping centre.
A frustrated Neil Breen said it was an “absolute disaster” and it was the same issue on Mother’s Day.
“The council has to get involved in here too,” he said.
“Everyone has to get involved.
“On days like that they’ve got to monitor the traffic better and not just run the usual traffic light system.”
The closure of the Toombul Shopping Centre is believed to have contributed to the lengthy delays.

Westfield opened the carpark boom gates so people could flow in and out without presenting their tickets.
Caller John had the same issue at Westfield Carindale.
“Exactly the same thing, all the traffic spilling onto Creek Road, an hour to get in and basically an hour to get out.”
