A world-first drug could reduce symptoms of long COVID

Brisbane’s Berghofer Medical Research Institute, has created a drug that could combat the symptoms of long COVID.

Long COVID affects 10 to 20 percent of individuals, causing symptoms such as fatigue, breathlessness, and brain fog.

It is suggested that the drug has the potential to reverse the persistent inflammation associated with long COVID.

Professor Sudha Rao, Lead Scientist at QIMR Berghofer, explained to Peter Gleeson on 4BC Drive, “The drug successfully reduced inflammation, and we observed a return to normal lung function. This drug represents a completely new class of medication that has not been developed before.”
