‘A catastrophic incident’: Australian helicopter crashes on Hamilton Island

Gary Hardgrave

An Australian military helicopter has crashed on south of Hamilton Island, and a full investigation has been initiated to understand how the incident occurred.

The MRH-90 helicopter was carrying four passengers as part of the Exercise Talisman Sabre when it crashed into the water.

Defence Minister Richard Miles held a press conference earlier today and labelled the crash as, “a catastrophic incident.”

“With every passing hour, it is now clear any hope of finding Captain Lyon, Lieutenant Nugent, Corporal Naggs and Warrant Office Laycock alive has been lost,” Minister Miles continued.
