Comm Games leaves Gold Coast a ghost town, and it’s killing small business

That’s why Gold Coast business owners are devasted the Commonwealth Games have turned the normally bustling tourist strip into a ghost town.
Some owners are exploring the idea of being part of a class action against the organisers of the games and the Queensland Government in a bid to recoup losses.
Hospitality businesses are among those most affected.
Council of Small Business Australia CEO Peter Strong tells Chris Smith, “I don’t blame them”.
“It’s government people that don’t understand business.
“Some of these people, sadly, will close.”
