‘Just a joke, this justice system’: Emma Lovell’s murderer appeals for lighter sentence
The teen responsible for Emma Lovell’s death has claimed the crime was “not particularly heinous” as he made a bid to reduce his jail sentence.
He was sentenced to 14 years’ jail, with a non-parole period of nine years and 292 days, with his time in custody taken into account.
Widower Lee Lovell told Bill McDonald on 4BC Mornings, “I’m not saying you can put any length of time on someone’s life, but it just seems such a joke that people are getting away with like literal murder and getting hardly any time.”
“I think a lot of the justice system seems to be so desensitised to what’s actually happened,” Lovell continued.
