‘Not very consistent’: Woolworths announces price reductions to stay until at least 2026
Woolworths has announced price reductions on almost 400 products, which will remain lowered until at least 2026.
But, does that mean that shoppers will see significant discounts?
Retail and Consumer Behaviour Expert at QUT, Gary Mortimer, told Sofie Formica on 4BC Afternoons, “What your listeners will start to notice is that these price discounts or declines aren’t significant. They may only be $0.50 or $0.60, they may only be a dollar at most.”
“But what they’re doing is they’re looking at the types of products that most shoppers will put into their basket or trolley each week, and they’re lowering them over a longer period of time.”
“I mean, what the research shows is, is that, you know, we’re not necessarily looking for the very high, very low pricing that’s always sort of jumping up and down. It’s sort of it’s not very consistent,” Mr Mortimer continued.
