‘Absolutely devastating’: Floods take heavy toll on Queensland cattle farmers

The western Queensland floods are still taking a toll on farmers, with many unable to assess the full extent of livestock losses.

Owner of Esk Beef and Director of AgForce Cattle, Ben Drynan, told Dean Miller on 4BC Drive, “It’s really hard to quantify it because a lot of properties still are in flood conditions, so they can’t get a stocktake on their inventory of livestock that they’ve actually lost.”

“It’s going to be just absolutely devastating for primary producers that have put a lifetime into breeding quality stock just to see them washed away.”

“So there’s the financial toll that they’re incurred, but there’s also the emotional toll as well. And that’s that’s really hard to measure,” Mr Drynan continued.
