South-east Queensland is forecast to swelter through peak heatwave conditions today.

Temperatures are set to soar up to 9 degrees above average for the month of March, with Brisbane heading for a top of 36.

Bureau of Meteorology’s Peter Claassen says a lack of strong winds has meant heat has accumulated.
