Authorities have reminded motorists they will be fined if caught speeding through school zones.

New fixed speed cameras have now been switched on in school zones, with children returning to classrooms over the coming hours.

Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey gave Laurel, Gary & Mark a rundown on how the new cameras work.

“We move them around,” he said. “What happens is, they’re at the back of the 40 signs.

“If you’re zooming past there at, say, 50, the camera will snap you just as you’ve gone past it.

“You’ve clearly seen the sign, done the wrong thing, and you will be nabbed.”
